Career expert warns against the perils of summer stress

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

If you don't find the summer months particularly relaxing, you may be suffering from summer stress, says Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel career expert Margo Frey, who also has some advice to help avoid falling deeper into the summer stress pit.

The source of your stress can be difficult to recognize if you are engaged in many activities for which you waited all winter long. You juggle your schedule to complete it but you end up working late to meet other demands. The next evening, you race from work to join your teammates for your weekly ball game. If you are so tired you don't even want to play, you've caught summer stress. You want your co-worker to be pleased with the way that you handled the work. If the co-worker who is absent reports to you, you might have assigned the work to another worker. If it is not working out well, you may need to coach that employee and do so in a manner that allows the person to maintain a good working attitude. During summer months, you probably accept more commitments that involve arriving somewhere on time than you do during the rest of the year. You might create stress by watching the clock to be sure you get to your child's sporting event on time. Or to get to your own ball game on time so you don't upset your teammates by being late. Even meeting a friend for a bite to eat before an outdoor concert can cause stress if you worry about getting prompt service so you can get to the concert on time. If you fill almost every evening with summer leisure activities, your yard work, laundry and other maintenance tasks are probably piling up. Lower your expectations about how well you can perform the duties of your co-workers while they are gone. Limit the number of social commitments that require you to scramble to arrive on time.
