Want a more secure password to your computer that you can't forget? Hewlett-Packard is shipping new laptop computers with fingerprint readers that take the place of passwords. The nx6125 notebook PC includes a fingerprint sensor made by AuthenTec, which says HP is the biggest computer maker to offer a fingerprint reader as standard equipment. Having computers ship with fingerprint identification capabilities built in could prompt more Web sites to adopt two-factor authentication schemes requiring a second ID check. Such security measures are common in many European countries, though the second check is usually another form of password. The computer, aimed at the business market, started shipping to stores Wednesday and sells for $1,000 and up.
