Smoothies a great source of health on the go
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor
The smoothie craze is worth a try since the low-fat, low-cholesterol drinks (when made correctly) are packed with fruit, protein, vitamins, fiber, minerals and cancer-protective phytochemicals, and can be personalized to taste.
If you have ever tasted an ice cold smoothie, chances are it was love at first slurp!
And you are not alone; the smoothie business is sky-rocketing across the United States.
You will find them in coffee shops, health clubs, and even fast food establishments are offering these cold treats.
Could it be the taste, the convenience, and the health that these cold drinks offer?
The smoothie also offers tremendous convenience for consumers in our fast-paced, highly mobile society.
Why not cool down your body, and give it the vitamins and minerals that it needs from fruit at the same time with an ice-cold smoothie.
Smoothies are beverages made by blending fruit with yogurt, milk, or ice cream until it's thick and smooth.
To this add a splash of milk, low-fat frozen yogurt, ice, fruit juice or soy milk; process in a blender and enjoy.
The great thing about smoothies is that they can be personalized to your taste.
Some individuals may blend in protein, ginseng, and multi-vitamins.
n One to two tablespoons of wheat germ will add extra fiber, folate, and vitamin E to your smoothie.
Given the taste, health benefits, convenience, and reasonable cost of this sweet treat, you will probably be seeing a lot more of these in the future.
