Detroit tops list of cities with highest car insurance rates
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor
People who live in Detroit are paying dearly for their car insurance, to the tune of $5,162 on average every year. Behind Detroit, Philadelphians pay $4,142, Newark residents pay $3,482, and people in Los Angeles shell out $3,225. New York comes in fifth, with an average tab of $3,127. However, Roanoke, Va. residents pay only $758, the lowest of any city in the country.
The host city for Major League Baseball's 2005 All-Star game and the National Football League's 2006 Super Bowl has another claim to fame.
Annual auto insurance premiums in Detroit last year averaged $5,162, the highest in the nation, according to Runzheimer International, the Rochester, Wis., vehicle cost and management consulting firm.
The annual average rate for Chicago pales in comparison--$1,826.
The five cities with the lowest auto insurance rates were Roanoke, Va.
Detroiters who choose to move to Wapakoneta would pocket a large savings, providing, of course, they can find Wapakoneta.
The alternative would be to move to Green Bay, which makes Wapakoneta worth finding.
The rates were based on drivers with clean records and included comprehensive, collision, bodily injury, property damage and uninsured motorist coverage.
Dave Friedlen, director of new product development for Runzheimer, said Detroit earned the honor based on its record of theft, repair and medical claims.
If you plan to attend the All-Star game or Super Bowl, perhaps you should take a bus.
