Psychologist helps readers through the "Family Feud" of weight loss
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor
Dr. John H. Sklare, psychologist and writer for eDiets.com, says there is a "Family Feud" in the head of everyone trying to lose weight -- a responsible adult eater vs. an irresponsible child eater -- and offers tips on how to overcome this internal battle.
At the heart of most weight loss struggles lies an issue that I have coined The Family Feud.
Briefly, The Family Feud is a phrase that I use to define the internal conflict for control that goes on, inside your head, every single time you make an eating and health choice.
There is the responsible Adult part of you and then there is the irresponsible Child part of you.
I saw a program on TV the other day that brought this to mind while demonstrating the power found in being able to "change your mind" when you need to.
And changing your mind is imperative if you want to find that healthy life you've been chasing.
Because, as I always say, you can't change your weight, until you change your mind!
It's a show that discusses the problems dog owners have with their pets and how these problems are solved under the guidance of the host, Cesar Millan.
It appears that Mr. Millan developed his abilities to help dogs while working on his father's farm in Mexico and while studying at the California Canine Academy.
Mr. Millan asserts that most of the problems that people have with their dogs can be traced to the owner showing too much kindness and not enough dominance when it comes to controlling their animal.
In simple terms, just like the dog whisperer, the internal Adult within you must take dominance over the impulsive Child if you are to find the fit body and healthy lifestyle that you dream about.
For those that are interested in learning more about The Family Feud, I have an entire hour on this concept in the four-hour eDiets Audio Motivation Program that I referred to earlier.
