by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

According to the Daily Times, quite a few women in Maryville, Tenn. have enjoyed significant results after joining Why Weight?, a local fitness program that promotes women exercising for themselves with no mirrors, no makeup and no men.

Belinda Brantley, Diane Steele and Tracy Fisher are part of a team that's scoring big results. There are no baseballs, bats or gloves involved, just a combination of hard work, sheer will and someone to lead them to victory. Women's Total Fitness, located in the Wiley Boring Center on Highway 411 South in Maryville. Different paths led them to the fitness center, but all share the common goal of weight loss and better health. For Brantley, the mother of two young children, wearing a knee brace due to an accident last August, wasn't an idea she latched on to at all. She said she wanted to gain back some flexibility, discard the brace and lose the pounds she had put on over the past few years. ``I have lost 12 inches so far,'' Brantley said as she worked out last week at Why Weight? This isn't Brantley's first experience in a workout environment. She went to her company's gym but said with no one there to instruct you, the results really didn't come. Linda Pierson, owner of the Why Weight? Women either feel like they don't get the proper training on the equipment or feel intimidated by a population that includes males. Thirty minutes on the eight different machines three times a week is the suggested regiment, Pierson said. The set up looks similar to Curves, another fitness franchise, but Pierson said the equipment is different. It can be adjusted to give a challenging workout, she said. Strength training and cardiovascular workouts are accomplished on the same piece of equipment. Diane Steele is a charter member of the Maryville Why Weight? A smoker who quit two years ago, Steele gained 30 pounds and wanted to lose it and keep it off.
