South Dakota high schools give their seniors a course on credit cards before graduation

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

In order to protect their graduates from falling into a cycle of endless debt, 45 South Dakota high schools are bringing in a California company to teach their seniors about credit cards. With people falling deep into credit card debt because they do not understand how to use credit cards properly, this program is designed to help graduates find good credit cards to sign up for and teach them to use their credit cards properly.

Dozens of South Dakota schools are signed on to give seniors a quick study in credit cards before they graduate this spring. A California-based organization will provide materials for a one-hour session on how to choose and use a credit card, and the consequences of too much debt and a bad credit rating. Carol Carolan says she started the program because most high schoolers aren't taught about credit cards at home or in school. And she says many parents don't know that teens can get multiple cards without having to be employed or get a co-signer. State Treasurer Vern Larson helped organize the effort because he says bad credit decisions can haunt someone for years.
