Study: Weight control may help battle complications from low birth weight

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

Science Daily reports that besides physical inactivity, genetics and age, a low birth weight is a lesser known risk for developing high blood glucose and diabetes, but risks from this complication may be reduced by eating a controlled diet and stopping weight gain, a study by Joslin's Research Section on Cellular and Molecular Physiology found.

We wanted to see if eating a controlled diet and stopping weight gain would prevent the development of glucose intolerance, explains Mary-Elizabeth Patti, M.D., Investigator in Joslin's Research Section on Cellular and Molecular Physiology and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, the study's co-author.
