Some cosmetics not coming from chemicals, but foods

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

Food ingredients such as wine, rice and tofu are becoming more commonly used as ingredients for cosmetics as consumers focus more on these naturally concocted products, the safety of which has been trusted in Japan for a long time.

Soy milk, rice and wine and other food-type ingredients have become popular materials for use in cosmetics, according to a recent report by Japan Today. Consumers are choosing products made from natural ingredients because the safety of materials in foods has been trusted for a long time in Japan. For example, a facial soap made from tofu and sesame was launched by Cosmescience Co. in 2002, and later the company introduced a lotion and milky liquid made from soy milk. The company then launched a lotion and skin care essence made from tea, claiming that tea's catechin helps prevent aging of the skin. Green vegetable juice and German chamomile also became materials in the company's cosmetics. Additionally, the company is working with seaweed and apples to develop new cosmetics. Kose Corp. has reportedly seen positive sales of natural cosmetics, primarily due to its development of medicated essence made from rice extract. Cosmetics made from rice bran, said to be effective as a moisturizing and anti-aging agent have also been developed. Wine also became a component in cosmetics made by NP Co., which claims that wine contains the antioxidant polyphenol and that is good for health.
