Kidney transplant transforms friendship into sisterhood

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

According to the Wisconsin State Journal, when Arlene Banoul asked 40 of her coworkers if they would be willing to donate a kidney to her, Megan Christiansen's answer to that call made the two feel their relationship was more like sisterhood.

For nearly eight years, Arlene Banoul and Megan Christiansen have been friends, working next to each other in the Wisconsin Public Defender Office. Banoul, 52, director of administrative services, is recovering from kidney transplant surgery June 1 at UW Hospital - one of the country's leaders in transplant surgeries. "I feel great," said Banoul, sitting on the sofa in the living room of her Madison home. "You really never know what people are willing to do for you. It's pretty rare to say you love someone you work with, but I love Megan. Less than two weeks after surgery, the donor - Christiansen, 50 - has returned to work Monday as budget director. "I walked to work," said Christiansen, noting it was about a 20-minute trek.
