Digital camera technology combines with the global Internet to expose Pentagon lies and war propaganda

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

During every war, governments traditionally maintain total control over the pictures and stories that reach the general public. That's how they keep the propaganda machine running and prevent the public from learning the truth about war. But now, the Internet and digital camera technology has made the total control of information impossible.

For perhaps the very first time, the American public is seeing the truth of the war on Iraq: the torture, the sodomizing of Iraqi prisoners by U.S. soldiers, the systematic abuse of Iraqi elderly, civilians, and even a little girl. Now, the Pentagon is learning the hard way that "freedom" also means freedom of information, and you can no longer get away with murder by calling it "peacekeeping."

Last year's US-led war in Iraq presented a showcase for the Pentagon's superior military technology - but as the occupation drags on, gadgetry is increasingly showing another side of the American armed forces. When the shocking images depicting the abuse of Iraqi prisoners by US troops began to surface, it became clear that many of them were amateur pictures, apparently taken by soldiers using their own private digital cameras. The internet also played a role in the distribution of the photographs, highlighting the ease with which troops serving in Iraq can now send pictures to friends and relatives back home.
