Man arrested for resisting arrest; welcome to Police State USA

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

The US Supreme Court is considering arguments about whether a person must give their name to a police officer who asks them to. In this particular case, a man had done nothing wrong, commited no crime, and was approached by a police officer who demanded his name. The man refused. So what happened next? He was arrested for resisting arrest, but nothing else. He was never charged with any crime or offense.

Welcome to Police State USA. Show me your papers! That's the motto. Better have your ID ready, or you'll be thrown to the ground and arrested for saying nothing. This is especially true at airports, where TSA officials routinely detain passengers for no justifiable reason, then proceed to search through their personal belongings and require them to remove articles of clothing. If that person has no identification, he or she will be arrested and interrogated by the TSA. This is America, folks. I'm not making this up.

It's all done in the name of protection against terrorism, of course, as if 9/11 can justify anything and everything Big Brother wants to do to. Benjamin Franklin said it best: "They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security deserve neither liberty nor security."

WASHINGTON -- Do you have to tell the police your name? The court took up the appeal of a Nevada cattle rancher who was arrested after he told a deputy that he had done nothing wrong and didn't have to reveal his name or show an ID during an encounter on a rural road four years ago. Larry "Dudley" Hiibel, 59, was prosecuted, based on his silence, and finds himself at the center of a major privacy rights battle. Nevada senior deputy attorney general Conrad Hafen told justices that "identifying yourself is a neutral act" that helps police in their investigations and doesn't -- by itself -- incriminate anyone.
