Unveiled: a searchable database of (false) justifications for going to
war with Iraq
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor
Want the real story on the Iraq war and the Bush administration's
dubious attempts to justify our invasion of Iraq? Here's a searchable
database where you can find all the claims used to justify attacking
Iraq... none of which have turned out to be accurate. There were no
Weapons of Mass Destruction and, in fact, the public has forgotten that
this was even the original justification for going to war. The reported
purchase of nuclear material from Niger was based on a forged document.
The biological weapons labs were milk factories. Basically, the war
with Iraq is a sham. It was sold to the American people using fear and
propaganda. Aided by our national tabloid cable news networks (Fox News,
CNN, etc.) the war was sold to an American public who, seemingly,
haven't developed any sort of critical thinking skills. That is, 49% of
them haven't.
Addressing the nation about the purpose of the war on the day the
bombing began, President Bush stated: "The people of the United States
and our friends and allies will not live at the mercy of an outlaw
regime that threatens the peace with weapons of mass murder."
One year later, many doubts have been raised regarding the
Administration's assertions about the threat posed by Iraq.
Prepared at the direction of Rep. Henry A. Waxman, the Iraq on the
Record Database is a searchable collection of 237 specific misleading
statements about the threat posed by Iraq made by the five
Administration officials most responsible for providing public
information and shaping public opinion on Iraq: President Bush, Vice
President Cheney, Defense Secretary Rumsfeld, Secretary of State Powell,
and National Security Advisor Rice. The Iraq on the Record Report is a
comprehensive examination of these statements.
(For more information on how these statements were selected, see the
full methodology.)
