The United States Patent and Trademark Office awarded Patent No. US 6,780,841, entitled hyaluronic acid and chondroitin sulfate based hydrolyzed collagen type II and method of making same to BioCell on August 24, 2004. The patent protects BioCell's process of manufacturing, preparation and use of hydrolzyed collagen type II powder compositions administered orally for absorption through the gastrointestinal tract or topically for dermis absorption in treating connective tissue disorder and replenishing skin viscoelasticity.
BioCell Collagen II® is a natural type II collagen ingredient that provides a naturally occurring matrix of bioavailable Hyaluronic Acid, depoiymerized Chondroitin Suifate, and Collagen Type II. According to Ishaq, the patent highlights many of the ingredient's joint health benefits.
