Holistic nutritionist says spring is good time to rejuvenate your diet

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

Spring is upon us, and a Michigan holistic nutritionist says that, as nature is rejuvenating itself, this is a good time to refresh your diet, too. "Allow your body to reset itself, to heal," she says. "By adopting a healing lifestyle, you're respecting your body." At the start of each spring and each fall, she says she "purifies" her body by laying off things like caffeine, sugar, meat, alcohol and fast food for a while.

By aligning her taste buds to the changing seasons, Jana Kilgore hungers for dark leafy greens, nutritious, broth-based soups, health-giving herbal teas and recipes. Eat food that will support and uplift your body and mind. So many foods can degenerate your body." Spring is a good time to be interested in nourishing foods that help protect against disease, keep energy high and celebrate the pleasures of eating. "You will have a greater abundance of energy, your vitality will be stronger so your physical body, your mental body, your emotional body and your spiritual body will be balanced," she advises. Kilgore eagerly awaits opening day at the farmers' market where fresh produce spills over, digging in the dirt to grow her own food, letting her culinary creativity run rampant with spring's supply of locally grown organic vegetables. Through her holistic nutrition and herbal practice, Kilgore helps people assess their eating and lifestyle habits, identifies areas where change would be beneficial and teaches behavior-modification strategies. "Our palates have been overloaded by salt, sugar and fats," she says. "When we think of ways to comfort ourselves, to nourish ourselves, we turn to shopping -- spending money in some way, acquiring something new -- or sugar," Kilgore says. "I deserve this piece of chocolate cake. "Take a walk, visit a playground and just swing and laugh and live your best life. "There's a philosophy in yoga to seek the highest," says Kilgore, yoga teacher at Expressions of Grace Yoga and Books. We're here to uplift, to enjoy the life we have, to be the greatest we can possibly be. "If your health is abundant, then you're going to have more energy to be as creative as possible.
