Logitech releases wireless headphones for iPod

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

Logitech's integrated remote controls on its new wireless iPod headphones allow users to control the volume, play, pause and track selection on the headphones while the iPod is stored away. The bluetooth technology allows up to a 10-meter separation without loosing the signal.

Bluetooth technology is now widely used on portable devices such as mobile phones as a standard for wireless interconnectivity, especially when it comes to pairing headsets/hands-free units. Tapping into the less congested and burgeoning market of portable media players, Logitech has launched a set of unique wireless headphones specifically designed for the iPod based on the Bluetooth Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP). The Logitech Wireless Headphones for iPod is one of the few Bluetooth headphones for the iPod that comes with integrated remote controls. You control the basic functions of the iPod such as volume, play/pause and track selection on the headphones itself with your iPod sitting far away on its docking station or tucked away in a bag. The headphones uses advanced Bluetooth 1.2 technology, which includes adaptive frequency hopping to ensure interference-free listening at all times and as a Class 2 device, it stays connected for up to 10 meters without loosing its signal. The 'street-style' headphones is designed with a behind-the-head band that rests comfortably and firmly over the ears, but users who wear glasses may find that it needs some getting used to. The remote control is found on the right side of the headphones and its four basic buttons are designed to be wide and far apart. This lowers the learning curve and makes them easier to identify, feeling for specific controls without the need to look. The Bluetooth adapter on the other hand, sits on top of an iPod with an adjustable input jack to fit the various models available, which includes the 3rd and 4th generation iPods, iPod Photo and iPod mini. Both devices charge separately and the provided AC adapter comes with two connectors. A full-charge for both devices takes around 2.5 hours and will last up to 8 hours of non-stop playing.
