Upstate New York spa earns high rankings

The New Age Health Spa in Neversink, NY was named the number four spa destination in North America by Spafinder.com. The spa is an immersive destination spa with an emphasis on leaving stress behind, and has a yoga and meditation center, a heated indoor poor, a gym and an exercise studio, among other amenities.
Last month, Spafinder.com released its 10 most-requested spa destinations in North America.
New Age has won the Spa Finder's Reader's Choice Award for the last three years, including the Crystal Award for Best Small Spa in the USA in 2003 and Best Value Spa and Best Yoga Programs in 2004.
It was also named Best Holistic Spa by Healing Lifestyles and Spas magazine this year.
SO I TOOK A RIDE UP to the New Age Health Spa in Neversink this week to get a handle on all its facets.
I asked Patricia Fahie, a Stone Ridge resident and marketing director for the past 12 years, why she thought the spa earned this distinction.
First, she explained the difference between resort spas and destination spas.
"We do not even serve coffee," Patricia says.
Several day packages are available, which can include spa cuisine, treatments and educational lectures for locals; however, priority is given to the overnight guests, so day services are typically not booked far in advance.
There are four common buildings and five guest lodges, all of which have Native American names, and several categories of rooms, which affect the rates.
There is a heated indoor pool for water aerobics classes, water Pilates or private swim.
