FDA orders changes at plant that produces Avadamet and Paxil; drugs may be in short supply while production stopped

The Food and Drug Administration has seized millions of tablets and ordered production stopped on two popular drugs made in a Puerto Rico plant. While problems are resolved, Avadamet, a diabetes pill and Paxil, an antidepressant, may both run out of stock experts say. FDA officials say pills made at the plant may split apart, causing problems for patients.
