Google might partner with Hollywood for new video search engine
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor
Following AOL and Yahoo, analysts say Google may succumb to a Hollywood partnership for access to video content, given their announcement for a video search engine.
Big Blue is working with the World Customs Organization to create standard procedures designed to make global supply chains more secure while helping them move faster and smoother.
The 165-nation WCO oversees customs procedures worldwide and oversees 98% of global trade.
The group is expected to adopt a set of guidelines in late June that will help members implement a new supply chain framework.
Kimberly Marsho, an IBM (IBM) executive aiding the project, says the idea is to stop terrorism and theft in the supply chain while ensuring that cargo moves through customs quickly.
It will benefit from a security and cost angle if all WCO members start using the same improved rules for moving supplies through customs.
IBD: What is this new project, and what is it trying to do?
Marsho: The full title is the "World Customs Organization Framework to Secure and Facilitate Global Trade."
Basically, it's a broad framework outlining how governments will cooperate with each other and with businesses in supply chain security while facilitating global trade.
They would use that data for risk targeting --- judging what cargoes pose more of a security risk than others.
It also talks about how governments will cooperate with each other on targeting risky cargoes and how to inspect those cargoes for each other.
It lays out principles for partnership programs that are similar to the U.S. Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism.
We anticipate that new technical standards (outside the framework) will be implemented as WCO members learn to use technologies like RFID (radio frequency identification) and GPS (global positioning systems).
If IBM had to implement different (supply chain) procedures in different countries, that would be very costly and inefficient.
