Unconscious surgical patients unknowingly practiced on by med school students

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

As you are unconscious undergoing surgery at a hospital, med school students could be practicing on you without your knowledge -- this, according to a special report published in Men's Health magazine.

What's really going on here? Med schools are allowing med school students to practice on patients who are unconscious during surgery, even without those patients' permission. This is obviously an invasion of privacy, especially since patients don't give consent for this procedure, nor are they informed that it has taken place. It basically happens behind the patient's back, or out of their awareness, since they are under the influence of anesthesia during the surgical procedure.

This is yet one more example of the lack of ethics at med schools and hospitals, where the humanity of patients is stripped away by procedures like this one that treat patients as physical machines and not human beings that should be respected or honored. This is a typical trait of Western medicine, which frequently fails to recognize the humanity of patients or to view them in a holistic way.

In Western medicine, bodies are understood as being a collection of parts -- you have a skeletal system, a circulatory system, a nervous system, ears, eyes, hands, arms, feet, and so on. Rarely is the entire patient or the entire body examined or observed in a holistic way. In naturopathic medicine, however, the patient is always looked at from a holistic perspective: the body, the mind, and the spirit, inseparable and interlinked. And the idea of unknowingly touching and examining unconscious patients without their knowledge would be considered utterly offensive to naturopathic physicians and practitioners of natural health. Yet this procedure is considered the norm in Western medicine. After all, future doctors have to be trained somehow, don't they?
