Voice control finally appearing as a viable technology
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor
It's been the vision of futurists for decades: voice controlled computers that understand not only what you say, but what you mean. The empathy capability aside, today's voice technologies are finally beginning to understand what you say.
And that's an important milestone in emerging technologies. Not only is it saving credit card companies thousands of dollars (since you can now speak your number right into the phone instead of relaying it to a far more expensive customer service employee), it will soon open up the world of computers to people who previously couldn't tackle existing interfaces.
Stop laughing: some people have trouble with the mouse and keyboard. And it's not just your grandmother I'm talking about, it's also people with physical handicaps. If you can't type -- for whatever reason -- voice control is a Godsend.
Interestingly, sophisticated voice control still seems unrefined for our everyday desktops, and as I write this, I'm typing it in, not speaking it. Otherwise, my saying "nice speech" might appear as "nice beach."
