CNN blatantly lies to America, claiming there are no 'sanctuary cities'

Sanctuary cities

(NaturalNews) Regular viewers of CNN - all 30,000 of them – were just treated to one of the biggest lies ever told by a cable network news organization.

Namely, that there are no "sanctuary cities" for illegal immigrants in the United States.

For the uninformed, sanctuary cities are those whose elected leaders have instructed their police and sheriff's departments not to cooperate with federal immigration authorities who seek to collect and deport illegal aliens, especially criminal aliens. Such cities serve as safe havens for those who have broken the law to get into the country (and some who have broken other U.S. laws – rape, murder, child abuse, drug abuse, DUI, etc. – after receiving the privilege of illegally immigrating to our country).

The denial network

But CNN's New Day anchor Chris Cuomo says such cities don't exist.

As reported by Breitbart News, here is how the conversation went between Cuomo and Michael Cohen, an adviser to new Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump, went:

MICHAEL COHEN: I'll tell you what [Trump] did do, he opened up the eyes of many Americans who didn't even know sanctuaries existed.

CHRIS CUOMO: What sanctuaries?

MC: These sanctuaries on the border that allow illegals to stay — if in fact they end up getting caught, they cannot deport them.

CC: You're talking about sanctuary cities that exist all over the country?

MC: Exactly.

CC: That's misnomer. Those are cities that are in dispute with ICE about how you deal with people they are holding.

MC: They are part of the United States. You can't be in dispute with the federal government.

CC: They are not safe havens the way you're describing.

MC: They most certainly are safe havens.

CC: They are not. It's about how they follow the process.

MC: They will not turn them over, Chris. They will not turn them over.

CC: They will. There's a legal process.

In fact, according to a new report from the Centers for Immigration Studies, there are currently 276 sanctuary cities in 43 states – and likely more on the way, despite a growing uproar over such cities following the murder of Kate Steinle, 32, in San Francisco recently by a criminal alien who had been deported five times.

"These sanctuary policies obstruct federal law authorizing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to administratively deport illegal aliens without seeking criminal warrants or convictions from federal, state, or local courts," says the Center for Immigration Studies in a separate report.

This is what defiance of federal law looks like – messy and ugly – and it is having profound consequences on American society.

Besides the crime rate, there are additional costs imposed on American taxpayers: Incarceration, education, and health care, to name a few, as well as personal costs borne by Americans who live along the busy U.S. Southwest border and must constantly deal with repairs to property damaged by illegal alien traffic.

It is interesting to watch the mainstream political, cultural and media elite beat up on Trump, a billionaire who is not seeking their approval, over his comments regarding the many unsavory elements crossing into the U.S. from Mexico. Less than a week after he said a number of illegal border jumpers were rapists and murderers, 45-year-old serial illegal immigrant Francisco Sanchez – who had been released from jail by San Francisco authorities in March, in compliance with sanctuary city policies – he killed Steinle.

Trump is just the latest one to call attention to our immigrant crisis

But well before Trump made his comments, others were sounding the alarm. The 2003 book, "Illegals: The Imminent Threat Posed by our Unsecured U.S.-Mexico Border," laid out in detail how illegal immigration was inundating local and state services, creating pockets of crime, harming U.S. national security and endangering the lives of American citizens.

The point is, CNN and other mainstream media are simply reacting to this issue in the way they often do with problems that the cultural elite find uncomfortable or objectionable: Ignoring it, downplaying it or changing the parameters of discussion. Whatever the technique, it is simply dishonest.

As for Trump, the cultural elite are only angry at him for calling it like he see it, which also happens to be the way tens of millions of other Americans see it, also.

It's not "racist" to point out the truth, which John Nolte at Breitbart News nails. Read it here.
