48,000 United States Afghan/Iraq Vets are homeless - They should have an entire city dedicated to them

(NaturalNews) Did you know that the number of homeless (or on the brink of being homeless) veterans who served in the Middle East has tripled in just the past three years? It's true. Many "vets" are returning from multiple deployments with more stress, more injuries and more needs for help and resources. They should all have free housing, free food, free medical, dental, vision insurance, nutritional help and more. We are at war now in a country that no other country has ever controlled - Afghanistan. It is a senseless, useless, dangerous war based on emotion (terror) and no true enemy. We are at war with an expression and not a country that has any kind of army, navy, air force or marines. We could be spending all that money, about $1 trillion per year, on taking care of our veterans and rebuilding the infrastructure of America, including border security.

The money we spend on running aircraft carriers, flying jets, manning operations on foreign soil, and building compounds and McDonald's restaurants in the middle of militarized zones, and the money we waste on supplies, sending supplies, building and rebuilding things that WE blow to smithereens for no good reason, all that money could be spent here at home, to rescue, revitalize and strengthen the very people who defend this country, and who put their lives at risk to protect us. The 12-year war "on terror" should come to an end now. We don't need to blow up sand and mountains anymore, and we don't need to FURTHER the poppies that fuel the heroin trade! We NEED to spend that money helping the military, ex-military and HOMELESS veterans get organic food, organic medicine, and safe, free housing until they all recover and can make a wonderful life for themselves here at home.

Veterans have risked their lives, repeatedly, and served our country, and we (politics and red tape) have cut off some or even all of their benefits, medical coverage, disability checks, food money, housing money and more. Many have PTSD and injuries or disabilities that need attention, and some of those people need help for the rest of their lives and deserve it!

Triple the Homeless Veterans in the Past Three Years

Currently, there are nearly 50,000 Iraq and Afghanistan veterans who are either homeless or in a federal program that's supposed to keep them "off the streets." This is according to the Department of Veterans Affairs, so start thinking deeply about the people who risked their lives for us. Many veterans before these Middle Eastern wars did not serve in combat zones on multiple deployments. Plus, the old saying that "war stimulates the economy" is just the opposite right now, as the wars are completely draining an already BROKEN economy. This senseless debate over minor changes in statistics regarding employment, people on food stamps and people living with their parents has got to stop. The numbers are in the millions for all of the above.

Identify and Assist

Have our politicians and Congress completely lost their minds? How can the masses just accept this? Why is their not some mass revolt? The veterans of these crazy wars should be able to walk up to city hall with their dog tags and be treated like kings, with no red tape, no paperwork to fill out, no waiting period, NO LINES and no threat of losing their privileges if they don't have the "mental capacity" to register for "Obamacare" or fill out a million and one forms every other month.

The lack of affordable housing is the prime concern, so end it. Housing should be FREE for all veterans forever. End of problem. End the senseless war in Afghanistan. After all, who are you trying to root out of the caves? Some guys with laptop computers and a pickup truck full of fertilizer? Or was it opium, I can't remember? And why has the opium cultivation/trade INCREASED since we went in? Let's ask the politicians who have a vested financial interest in the war. (http://www.naturalnews.com)

The economy is in shambles because the Government wastes money. But the bottom line is that they don't spend money if they can't make money, and that's why there are so many homeless and almost homeless veterans. The government is "done" with them. They aren't overseas making the politicians money. It's sad. What can we do to fix it? Giving them a bunch of "psych drugs" and sending them on their way is not the answer either! Did you know that for every active-duty service member who dies in battle, 25 veterans die by suicide? (http://www.naturalnews.com)

Maybe the veterans aren't bothering to look for work because there is NO work. What kind of conditions must veterans endure in "temporary housing" and at the veterans' hospitals? What options do these 26,000 veterans have? How many are not even recognized in this figure that the Dept. of Veteran Affairs doesn't even know about?

Maybe we should listen to the vets who DO NOT support the war. Let's listen to the people who have been there and have a voice about it. (http://www.ivaw.org/) Think about where your tax money should really be going, and maybe we can all make a change in the voting booths and on the "streets" this year! (https://org2.salsalabs.com)
