America's youth turning on Obama; participation in Obamacare dismal

(NaturalNews) The segment of the American population most needed for Obamacare to "work," the younger generation, is the segment largely missing from its enrollment ranks, a new academic poll reveals. In a survey, researchers from Harvard University's Institute of Politics found that more than half of 18- to 29-year-olds have decided to forego enrollment in Obamacare due to its high costs and failure to deliver.

Obama's so-called "signature domestic achievement," an illegally ratified cash cow for the drug industry and other select insiders that was declared by the nation's corrupt judiciary to be a "tax," has essentially become the undoing of his presidency among young people. Though believed to be the group most responsible for his election and re-election, young people are rejecting Obama and his failed plans, including the ongoing Obamacare debacle, in droves.

"A poll released Wednesday by Harvard University's Institute of Politics found that more than half of 18- to 29-year-olds disapprove of ObamaCare and believe it will raise their healthcare costs," writes Elise Vielbeck for TheHill.com, adding that "less than one-third of uninsured young people said they plan to enroll in coverage."

Uninsured young people stand to gain nothing from Obamacare

Far from providing affordable care, Obamacare has turned out to be a nightmare for the people who, ironically, need it the least -- "millenials" who are mostly healthy and require little in the way of health services. These folks are the least likely to participate not only in Obamacare but in any sort of government plan that involves them having to pay lofty deductibles and premiums for services that they will rarely, if ever, use.

"There are very few aspects of the health-care initiative that they approve of," says John Della Volpe, the institute's polling director, to Bloomberg during a recent conference call. "They think quality will decrease, that prices will increase, so it's not surprising that has taken a significant hit to the president's approval rating.

People like 28-year-old Katy Irwin, for instance, a freelance graphic designer who we recently reported pays out of pocket for medical services as needed, is one of many who now realizes that she will be required to shell out far more money for less under Obamacare. Just like with many others in her age category, it makes more sense to simply opt out of the Obamacare scheme altogether rather than become even poorer as a result of compliance.

Blacks turning their backs on Obamacare, too

While young people seem to dominate the list of Obamacare's defectors, others, including African Americans, who also strongly supported Obama in the past, are apparently also jumping ship. According to the same survey, Obama's overall approval rating among African Americans has plummeted some 10 percent since a similar youth survey was conducted by the group earlier this year.

"This is an across-the-board problem," says Trey Grayson, the institute's director. "You are seeing cracks in his base."

The Obama administration is pathetically trying to woo these former supporters back into the fold with more empty promises about how Obamacare can supposedly benefit them, but these tired tactics are no longer effective. If anything, these continued attempts to force Obamacare down the collective throats of the American public is only making things worse.

"It's going to be a tough sell to tell [young people] they need to overpay for insurance to cover poorer people when they themselves are struggling financially," wrote one Bloomberg commenter about the issue. "Many simply don't have the money to pay inflated premiums. Period."
