(NaturalNews) Controversy surrounds attention disorders (ADHD) as more and more children (and adults) are prescribed powerful, mind altering drugs such as Ritalin and Adderal, as many as 20 million children in the US alone by some estimates! The title of a recent report in Natural News, June 25, 2013 by Ethan A. Huff, says a lot: "Before his death, father of ADHD admitted it was a fictitious disease".

Whether a "real disease" or not, the fact is a lot of children lag behind because they are unable to focus enough to keep up with the learning standards imposed through our school systems. And, a great many of these kids have real learning "difficulties" as well, such as Dyslexia. The personal and family toll from poor school performance can be devastating. The societal impact is astounding; 75% of the prison population has a learning and/or attention difficulty, 75% !!

So, what's a parent to do if uninterested in medication? There are lots of alternatives touted and promoted: supplements, biofeedback, change of diet, eliminate sugars, play certain "video games", behavior modification, and on and on. And many of these can provide improvement in some people. Before ADHD was even in the medical manuals, and prior to the skyrocketing incidence of autism, there was a scientist/educator working on solving learning disabilities among young people. After years of trial and error experimentation with challenged students, a simple but powerful "program" emerged to help them succeed in school.

Dr. Frank Belgau's "Learning Breakthrough Program" is a multi-sensory physical exercise regimen that helps better organize the way the brain processes information. A series of precise movements performed on specialized equipment, gets to the root foundational brain structures involved with learning and attention. Science has now proven that our brains can change throughout our lifetime (neuroplasticity). And change comes from our experiences, the most powerful of which are physical experiences.

His methods have been used in academic and clinical settings going on 4 decades. Marked improvement in reading, comprehension, speech and focus occur through daily training. People with Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD and other learning disabilities have benefited from proper use. Two-15 minute sessions a day of this brain training program may be the answer for many of the issues that plague children today. The program has been revised to be easy to use in the home or classroom without the need for professional assistance.

It may be difficult to understand how standing on a unique balance board while tossing bean bags, tapping a hanging pendulum and tossing super balls to a bounce back board can improve learning, attention and performance, but it can and it has, for thousands around the world.
