(NaturalNews) Do you know what the two most dangerous objects in a hospital are? A doctor's necktie and a doctor's cell phone! It's true: Neckties and cell phones harbor superbugs such as MRSA. This has been proven time and time again by numerous studies you can find written up in the popular press (http://health.usnews.com/articles/health/hea...).

On the pharmaceutical side, superbugs are also caused by the rampant abuse of antibiotics by doctors, who seem to prescribe them for everything under the sun -- including those things that are completely unaffected by antibiotics such as viral infections.

Notably, all these objects -- neckties, mobile phones and antibiotics -- are only introduced to patients through the presence of a doctor, and that effectively makes doctors the single most dangerous thing in any hospital.

Of course, doctors can be extremely useful at times, especially in the emergency room where some kid who fell off the roof while filming a YouTube stunt needs to have his ankles reattached. But outside the realm of urgent care, doctors tend to spread disease a lot more than they spread health.

But don't take my word for it: Here's what others have to say on the subject of superbugs and doctors:

Authors' Quotes on Superbugs and Doctors

Below, you'll find selected quotes from noted authors on the subject of Superbugs and Doctors. Feel free to quote these in your own work provided you give proper credit to both the original author quoted here and this NaturalNews page.

Superbugs are not caped, crime-fighting bacteria found in comic books. They are antibiotic-resistant bacteria that are causing havoc in today's medical system. Why? Because antibiotics cannot kill these superbugs. Antibiotic-resistant infections kill as many as 8,000 patients each year in Canada and cost the health-care system at least $100 million annually.

The bugs that were "successfully" subdued with antibiotics for decades are now taking revenge by producing what is known as "antibiotic-resistant organisms," that is, superbugs that defy antibiotic treatment. Some 90,000 Americans suffer potentially deadly infections each year from a drug-resistant "staph superbug." According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), more people now die from these superbugs than from AIDS diseases. Recent nationwide outbreaks of infections caused by superbugs killed teenagers in U.S.

Probiotics have antimicrobial activity, which means they can prevent the infection and growth of bad microbes, including superbugs, in the body. Some experts hypothesize that probiotic therapy can help in the prevention or treatment of superbug infections. Decades ago, a strain of Staphylococci (Staph) emerged in hospitals, which was resistant to the broad-spectrum antibiotics commonly used to treat it. Called methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), it was one of the first germs to outwit most drugs. This infection can be fatal.

Except for the sterile environment of surgery theatres, the superbugs can be found riding on dust particles of the heating and air-conditioning systems, in bathrooms and toilets, and even in the food. They account for most of the deaths in hospitals today. The superbugs "choose" those patients whose immune systems have already been impaired through sickness, injury, surgery, and/or previous encounters with antibiotics. In healthy people with a strong immune system, these bugs can live on their skin or in their noses without infecting them.

The more antibiotics Iowans used, the faster these drug-resistant superbugs spread. Iowa's children were among the most vulnerable to these drug-resistant germs because doctors regularly gave them antibiotics. Physicians had shown no hesitation in giving these drugs even to infants. One study of Iowa children found that 75 percent had been given an antibiotic by the time of their first birthday, and 91 percent had received such a prescription by age two and a half.

In this way, bacteria become supergerms or superbugs, capable of evading any attack by drugs. They lurk particularly in places where antibiotics are most often used, i.e. Hospitals and nursing homes. According to recent research findings, five to ten percent of all people checking into hospitals today are going to get infected as a result of antibiotic-resistant bacteria lodging within these buildings.

The widespread use and abuse of antibiotics is becoming increasingly alarming, not only because of the chronic candidiasis epidemic, but also due to the development of "superbugs" that are resistant to currently available antibiotics. According to many experts, as well as the World Health Organization, we are coming dangerously close to arriving at a "postantibiotic era," in which many infectious diseases will once again become almost impossible to treat.

If you do develop a UTI, be wary of using prescription antibiotics, which can cause yeast infections or new infections with antibiotic-resistant superbugs. Instead of relying on pharmaceuticals, treat UTIs naturally with cranberry juice and the widely available supplement pulsatilla extract. Be sure to watch your symptoms, if the UTI has already progressed too far you may require conventional intervention to prevent more serious complications to your organs.

In fact, antibiotics are a major cause of recurrent infections, and our overuse of them is breeding highly resistant strains of "superbugs" that are immune to all known types of antibiotics. To add insult to injury, we have lost the war on infectious diseases, even with all these antibiotics and better hygiene. According to a recent press conference held by the American Medical Association, infectious diseases have reemerged as a serious health threat. Just in the past decade, death from infectious diseases has risen a stunning 58 percent worldwide.

Children infected with bacteria that resist antibiotics (sometimes called "superbugs") often need to be treated longer and with more expensive antibiotics -- sometimes these children need to be hospitalized to receive antibiotics intravenously. Worse, every year in the United States children die from bacteria that are resistant to all known antibiotics. Although antibiotics were first used only fifty years ago, we have already taken our first steps into an era where antibiotics may be useless.

The increased prevalence of antibiotic-resistant "superbugs" combined with the greater susceptibility to infection caused by their overuse can be a fearsome combination, especially for children. In January 1996, a Georgetown University School of Medicine study showed that kids taking a broad-spectrum antibiotic to prevent ear infection had a 100 percent chance of succumbing to a "superbug" -- a fivefold increase in risk. When antibiotic treatment fails, many doctors turn not to natural remedies but to a more invasive treatment: inserting ear tubes to drain the ear or equalize pressure.

Hospitals breed antibiotic-resistant superbugs that pose a real danger to patients and the public alike. Hospitals are places where medical errors are rampant; people are given the wrong drugs at the wrong doses, or undergo the wrong medical procedures with horrifying frequency. Sometimes people even have the wrong limbs operated on or amputated, waking up wondering, "Where is my good arm?" There are literally hundreds of thousands of medical mistakes that injure, and even kill, patients in America each and every year.

Autopsies revealed that many of the patients who died from an "AIDS" disease had never actually been infected with HIV but were killed by antibiotic-resistant superbugs. These bugs cause similar symptoms to the ones considered AIDS diseases. It is difficult to determine how many millions of AIDS victims are actually victims of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
