Is the FDA Seeking to Ban All Dietary Supplements Examined in Scientific Studies?By Mike Adams, December 8, 2008 | Key concepts: Health freedom, FDA and Dietary supplements The health freedom community is up in arms over a possible new interpretation of FDA regulations that would bar any nutritional supplement from being sold over state lines if it contains ingredients that have ever been approved for scientific studies.The American Association for Health Freedom (www.HealthFreedom.net) issued a warning on November 25, which stated that the FDA's regulatory changes "...may mean that all food products, including dietary supplements, could be barred from being marketed if they have been the subject of published clinical studies." The National Health Federation (www.TheNHF.com) responded with a letter condemning the warning. Attorney Scott Tips wrote a response here: http://www.thenhf.com/press_release... His response says that the interpretation of FDA rules is misguided and alarmist, and no new rules have been put into place at all. Thus, it risks the credibility of the health freedom movement to cry wolf over a non-issue. One of the original email warnings on this issue came from the Natural Solutions Foundation (www.HealthFreedomUSA.org), run by Dr. Rima Laibow. This health freedom organization focuses most of its work on CODEX and vaccines. None of these health freedom organizations get along very well. They all have different views on the real threats to health freedom, HOW to best accomplish actual health freedom, and even WHO is actually working against health freedom with a secret agenda. Not surprisingly, each of these groups is, much like NaturalNews, led by a person with a strong, somewhat aggressive personality. Hence the bickering. I've watched the health freedom community for several years, and I tend to find the most agreement with the news and alerts put out by the AAHF (www.HealthFreedom.net), but I've also found value in the NHF and posts from Scott Tips and others. I tend to find Dr. Rima Laibow's announcements to be valuable, but sometimes they leap to conclusions that aren't well substantiated. Then again, many critics might say the same of my own work. My overall opinion on health freedom issues is that there are very real and very scary threats to our health freedoms, but we've got to be careful in our announcements of such threats if we hope to maintain sufficient credibility with readers for the BIG threats that are headed our way. Any sufficiently-credible health freedom issue that surfaces will be covered on NaturalNews. If I don't write a story about it, that's because I don't believe the threat is credible. In the past two years, I've skipped over a lot of health freedom warnings that sounded scary at first but didn't seem to be credible enough for me to cover. I don't claim to be always right in my own assessment, but I am working with the intention of only sounding the alarm over legitimate, imminent health freedom threats (such as mandatory vaccination policies, parents' rights to refuse chemotherapy for their children, mandatory mental health screening initiatives and other similar subjects). The overall message here, however, is that YES, your health freedom are under assault by the FDA, by CODEX, and even by the multiple branches of the U.S. government. We should all be concerned about protecting the health freedoms we have now as well as reclaiming the freedoms we've already lost (like free speech for nutritional supplements). NaturalNews will continue to bring you the most accurate and timely warnings possible. In time, we hope to see a health revolution in America that will overthrow the tyranny of the FDA and the conventional medical system, restoring true health freedoms to the people. In early 2009, we plan to launch a petition that seeks to gather a large number of signatures in support of fundamental health care reforms and health freedom initiatives. Watch for that announcement in early January. I support the efforts of all the health freedom groups currently working to protect and restore the health freedoms of the People, including many groups that were not named in this story.
