Super-rich elites fly hundreds of private jets to Davos economic forum where 'global warming' was a topic

by J. D. Heyes

(NaturalNews) If there is one thing that you can count on when you combine a global meeting of the world's uber-rich and the subject of "global warming," it is hypocrisy.

Because only an elitist billionaire who lives in a bubble would take a private jet to a meeting where he and scores of other billionaires admonish the rest of humanity for flying in jets (even jets they share with dozens of other passengers -- a much more efficient way to fly).

But that's what happened recently at the Davos Economic Summit, where hundreds of private jets littered the skies to shuttle in the world's wealthiest, along with global leaders and even rock stars and movie starlets.

As noted by The Daily Sheeple website:

Every year, members of the World Economic Forum gather in the small resort town of Davos, Switzerland to discuss the most pressing issues that are effecting the global economy. Its ranks are filled with the wealthiest people in the world, and include monarchs, former and current heads of state, CEOs, and celebrities.

Much like the Bilderberg Group or G20, their members represent the tip of the pyramid so to speak. They wield immense power and influence in politics, business, and media, and what goes on during their meetings can have drastic effects on the world at large.

Al Gore's "inconvenient truths"

Because 2014 was proclaimed the "hottest year on record" by NASA (spoiler alert: it really wasn't, but more on that in a moment), naturally "global warming" had to be included in the Davos seminar schedule. And none other than former Vice President Al Gore, "Mr. Inconvenient Truth," whose film of that name has been deemed full of lies and inaccuracies, was tapped to give that presentation.

We're betting that nobody asked him, if he's really so concerned about "global warming," why his home is an energy hog.

Such a question surely would never have come from, say, Mexico's ex-president. "Decision-makers meeting in Davos must focus on ways to reduce climate risk while building more efficient, cleaner and lower-carbon economies," former Mexican president Felipe Calderon told USA Today. Perhaps the Davos elite can figure out how to transform Mexico from a narco-state back into a viable country with a government free of corruption.

A-hem. But I digress.

As the elite filled the skies above Switzerland -- which were so clogged that "the Swiss Armed Forces have even opened up one of their military air bases for the first time to try and accommodate the increase in traffic," reports Newsweek -- some of the talk turned to global "inequality."

"It is time our leaders took on the powerful vested interests that stand in the way of a fairer and more prosperous world," said Oxfam's executive director Winnie Byanyima, who co-chaired the event. "Business as usual for the elite isn't a cost-free option - failure to tackle inequality will set the fight against poverty back decades. The poor are hurt twice by rising inequality - they get a smaller share of the economic pie and because extreme inequality hurts growth, there is less pie to be shared around."

$43 hot dogs and the 38 percent rule

It's a little hard to find much sincerity in that statement when the world's richest people are willing to pay $43 for a hot dog.

Now, as for the "2014 was the hottest year on record" comment, David Rose, writing in Britain's Sunday Mail noted that NASA's not even really sure that data is accurate:

The Nasa climate scientists who claimed 2014 set a new record for global warmth last night admitted they were only 38 per cent sure this was true.

In a press release on Friday, Nasa's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) claimed its analysis of world temperatures showed '2014 was the warmest year on record'.

The claim made headlines around the world, but yesterday it emerged that GISS's analysis -- based on readings from more than 3,000 measuring stations worldwide -- is subject to a margin of error. NASA admits this means it is far from certain that 2014 set a record at all.

We'll wait for the retraction from all the other media outlets who slavishly trumpeted this "scientific finding" -- but we won't hold our breath.
