What's new in the world of natural health: Hydroponic living produce, Don't Eat Cancer and One Degree Organic Foods

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

(NaturalNews) The rapid expansion of the natural health industry is taking the world by storm. More and more people are reading food labels now and demanding products with clean labels, low heavy metals and organic certification.

Here's a wrap-up of some recent launches: Two new books, a new "living produce" IndieGoGo project, a new protein and an amazing new organic cereal company with stunning transparency for its raw materials.

Green PolkaDot Box founder launches living produce project

Rod Smith, the CEO of Green PolkaDot Box (an organic, non-GMO online grocery retailer) has just announced a new effort to launch what he calls "Living Produce."

Described in this video on IndieGoGo, the project is based on a breakthrough hydroponic food production technology that can literally feed the world nutritious living produce at a lower cost than using conventional organics.

The company plans to produce fresh produce on a large scale, then deliver that produce to its customers via the existing GPDB retail infrastructure. The result is that customers across the country will receive fresh, living produce with root systems intact, via GPDB shipments.

Ultra-clean Sacha Inchi protein launched by Boku Superfood

As Natural News readers know very well, organic rice proteins sold across the U.S. in retailers like Whole Foods are contaminated with lead, cadmium and tungsten. But aggressive efforts are under way by the industry to clean up its products and launch substantially cleaner formulations.

I was recently sent protein samples from Healthforce, for example, which showed considerable reductions in lead and cadmium (roughly 50% lower, if I recall), demonstrating that the company's products being rolled out to store shelves are headed in the right direction. (I tested the new products myself in the lab.) More good news is coming out soon on the improved formulations from Healthforce, a company which has been very responsive to customer demands for cleaner products. (Thumbs up to Jameth Sheridan for that!)

The Boku Superfood company, meanwhile, has launched an ultra-clean Sacha Inchi protein that tested extremely clean in the Natural News Forensic Food Labs.

Sacha Inchi is the front edge of a new wave of proteins that are highly nutritious, slightly nutty in flavor and substantially cleaner in terms of heavy metals. This Boku product is a truly innovative formulation, and it's available now from Boku. Click here for their product page.

ONE Degree Organic Foods

I love this new cereal company! ONE Degree Organic Foods, based in Canada, is probably going to win an Editor's Choice award this year from Natural News. The company has created an ultra-transparent product formulation model that represents what I think ALL food should be.

For starters, there's a scannable URL symbol on the front of the box that opens up a web page giving you the source of every ingredient used in the cereal. That alone is astonishing -- and I believe it's an industry first. The back panel of the cereal box lists the actual source and contact name of every key ingredient used in the cereal -- also an industry first.

In a world where Monsanto and its evil cohorts like General Mills and PepsiCo are desperately trying to keep consumers in the dark about what they're eating, it's delightfully refreshing to see a company like ONE Degree Organic Foods going out of its way to keep customers fully informed of ingredients and their origins.

This is the way foods should be formulated and marketed: with full transparency. The ONE Degree food company is truly making history with its commitment to that transparency.

Their cereals, by the way, are available at Green PolkaDot Box which has an affiliate relationship with Natural News. (We support this retailer because they are strictly non-GMO, making them even better than Whole Foods in terms of product honesty.)

Two new books: Don't Eat Cancer and "14 and Out"

Finally, here are two new books that deserve a mention:

Don't Eat Cancer is a fantastic guide to preventing cancer through informed food choice.

This book empowers you with the latest advances in nutrition-based cancer prevention, and it warns you about all those food additives and chemicals that cause cancer. I consider this a must-read guide for anyone who wants to stay out of the cancer clinics for life!

14 and Out is a powerful guide to help smokers quit their addictions and regain control over their health. I wrote the foreword for this book and I've seen the power of this information to help smokers quit for good. If you are battling with a nicotine addiction (or know someone who is), this is the book to give them.
