Pray for Tracy Morgan's recovery from deadly car crash; and remember to enjoy life while you still have it

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

(NaturalNews) Comedian Tracy Morgan was critically injured in an automobile accident this last weekend, and his comedy writer James McNair was killed. A tractor trailer hauling Wal-Mart goods apparently failed to notice that traffic on the freeway had slowed to a crawl, and it collided at high speed with the limo shuttle carrying Tracy Morgan.

Three others were injured in the accident, and news of the tragedy has sent shock waves across the 'net. Like many comedians, Tracy Morgan is admired for his unique look at reality and his ability to make people laugh at the world around them.

What's especially important for us all to note from this event is that normally when we hear about celebrities being injured or killed, it's due to something they've done to themselves. Whitney Houston, for example, was addicted to drugs. Heath Ledger died from a prescription drug overdose. Chris Farley died for similar reasons as well.

But Tracy Morgan was nearly killed through no fault of his own. He was merely sitting in a transportation shuttle, hoping to get from point A to point B when he was slammed by a massive tractor-trailer barreling down the highway. He played no role in causing this tragedy and was merely in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Tracy Morgan's experience reminds us to enjoy life while we still have it

The point of mentioning this is that Tracy Morgan's tragedy reminds us all just how fragile life really is.

In truth, life can be taken from any of us in an instant, and it can happen due to no fault of our own. You can literally be driving down a road one instant, then flattened by a massive truck the next moment due to someone else not paying attention. Yes, there are things you can do to improve your changes -- like wearing a seatbelt -- but even a seatbelt won't stop a tractor-trailer.

Every day that we venture outside onto the roadways, we put our lives at risk. That's not a reason to hide from the world and refuse to travel at all, however. Instead, it's a reason to enjoy our lives and life with a sense of purpose so that our lives count for something while we experience them. Every life is a gift... a blessing. And we are spiritually obliged to do something meaningful with our lives.

When Morgan returns to the stage, he will have new insights about life

Fortunately, there are reports that Morgan is improving and is headed for a recovery. With your prayers, Morgan is likely to make a full recovery and be back on stage to entertain and challenge the minds of audiences for many years to come.

And I have no doubt that this experience will have a profound and lifelong impact on his own wisdom about life and death. Having seen his best friend taken from him so suddenly -- while he was spared -- Morgan will no doubt pursue some very deep philosophical questions about the meaning of life, the existence of the spirit and the pursuit of meaning.

Honestly, as tragic as this experience must be, I also believe it will ultimately lead to Tracy Morgan becoming a more complete comedian because of his firsthand witnessing of the really big issues that we all wonder about: life, death, crisis, friendship, healing and compassion. Comedians, after all, are very often philosophers as well. They use comedy to open our eyes and teach us new ways of looking at our world and our experiences.

My prayers go out to Tracy Morgan and all those injured or killed in this accident. And my greatest hope is that we can all live in a world without suffering, without tragedy and without the poisons in our food and medicines which also cause extreme harm to our children.

I enthusiastically look forward to Morgan's return to the stage and sincerely believe that he will have a LOT more to say following all this. We are all blessed with life. While we have it, let's use it for something that matters. Let's make a difference, 'cuz life is short!
