McDonald's rolls out scary new Happy Meal mascot that seems spawned right out of Little Shop of Horrors

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

(NaturalNews) McDonald's has just introduced a new Happy Meal mascot that may have children too scared to finish their meals at all. Sporting a human tongue and human-looking teeth inside a cartoonish box frame with wiry arms, the new Happy Meal mascot looks like a psychotic, red dishwasher that ate a human being and has him hopelessly trapped inside.

The new mascot, McDonald's insists, "is about bringing more fun and excitement to kids meals." (1) Could they possibly mean the kind of excitement that can only be experienced from being chased down by a man-eating cartoon monstrosity? Despite being named the "Happy Meal" mascot, this little devil looks like the stuff of children's nightmares.

Happy Meal. "The meal that eats you before you can eat it" might be a more fitting slogan.

Fashioned after the Little Shop of Horrors?

Maybe it's just me, but this Happy Meal mascot immediately brought to mind Audrey II from the classic musical film Little Shop of Horrors starring Rick Moranis.

In that film, a seemingly innocent-looking plant grows out of control and tries to eat everyone within reach, unleashing a "botanical death rampage" on screen.

According to Bloomberg News (2), social media has erupted with scorn for the new mascot with statements like:

"I think I'm going to have nightmares."
"What the f--- is that creature?"
"THAT! is scary!"

On the good news side, McDonald's does seem to be pushing some healthier food options for kids such as avoiding soda and choosing juice or water instead. On the bad side, however, many children might wet their pants before they have a chance to eat anything at all.

What do you think about McDonald's new nightmarish mascot? Does it make you want to eat some French Fries, or does it make you more worried that something might try to eat your child?
