Ultra-clean protein breakthrough as companies announce low heavy metals powders based on Sacha Inchi, Pumpkin seed and more

Really clean vegan proteins available right now

Although these aren't new formulations, I also need to give a shout out to a few other vegan proteins available right now which are really clean in terms of heavy metals:

RAW POWER! Organic Protein is made from hemp protein, brazil nut protein and maca powder. This is a really nice formula that has a nice, nutty taste. The only downside is that it has a bit more grit than some other proteins.

Nutiva Hemp Protein consistently tests really clean in terms of heavy metals. The same is true of hemp proteins from Ruth's Hemp Foods, a Canadian company with a real passion for clean food.

Pumpkin Seed Protein Powder from Sprout Living is also super clean in terms of very low heavy metals. It's also quite delicious, and I think we'll see a lot more use of pumpkin seed protein powder in the years ahead.

VEGA proteins are already very clean in terms of heavy metals, and they're really gaining ground with a lot of customers for their quality control of raw materials.

I can't name the company names yet, but virtually ALL the big manufacturers of rice protein are reformulating their products to meet the low heavy metals standards generally described as rating "A" at www.LowHeavyMetalsVerified.org

Most rice protein companies are aiming to be below .250 ppm lead, and I'm extremely confident this goal is going to be met by nearly all the companies sometime this year.

Some companies are aiming to get their lead below .100 ppm lead, but that's very difficult to do with rice protein alone. Typically this can only be accomplished with protein blends that include hemp protein and pea protein in the mix.

To achieve a protein below .050 ppm lead requires shifting to hemp, whey or nut proteins, typically. And to achieve lead below .025 ppm is extremely difficult and somewhat rare in a vegan protein.

That's why the Boku Super Protein in the Buff is so impressive: it's one of the few vegan proteins I've ever tested showing lead below .020 ppm.

Now, of course there is some variation in these numbers from lot to lot, and I'm always careful to say in my own testing that I can't speak for other lots (especially future lots which have not yet been manufactured). But the numbers I'm sharing are accurate for the lots I was able to attain.
