Komen Foundation boycott announced by Killer Culture

(NaturalNews) Killer Culture, website of the Institute for the Study of Culturogenic Disease, has published a call for people to boycott the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the American Cancer Society for refusing to take seriously claims that wearing bras may be a cause of breast cancer.
"[These] fund raising giants of the cancer detection and treatment world... consider the link absurd and unworthy of serious consideration, and unquestionably assume that research showing a link must have some other explanation besides bras," the statement reads.
The Institute for the Study of Culturogenic Disease consists of husband-and-wife team Sydney Ross Singer and Soma Grismaijer, co-authors of Dressed To Kill: The Link Between Breast Cancer and Bras. Singer and Grismaijer are calling on people to stop donating any money to Komen or the Cancer Society "until they stop dismissing the bra-cancer link, and begin educating doctors and women about the cancer hazards of wearing tight bras."
"Shrugging off the bra-cancer link is killing hundreds of thousands of women and wasting billions of dollars in unnecessary detection and treatment," the statement reads.
Bra-cancer link?
Singer and Grismaijer say that their research shows a 100 times higher breast cancer risk among 24/7 bra-wearers than among women who do not wear bras, and that women who go braless have the same breast cancer rates as men. Yet major cancer research institutions continue to treat a bra-breast cancer link as a myth, even 20 years after the publication of Singer and Grismaijer's book.
"Scientific evidence does not support a link between wearing an underwire bra (or any type of bra) and an increased risk of breast cancer," reads the Susan G. Komen website. "There is no biological reason the two would be linked, and any observed relationship is likely due to other factors."
The American Cancer Society's site says, "Internet e-mail rumors and at least one book have suggested that bras cause breast cancer by obstructing lymph flow. There is no good scientific or clinical basis for this claim."
According to Singer and Grismaijer, 2 million breast cancers could have been prevented in the past 20 years if these organizations had urged women to loosen their bras and to wear them less often. They point to more recent research, including a 2009 Chinese study and a 2011 Venezuelan study, supporting a link between bra-wearing and breast cancer.
"Why are women not hearing about this from the ACS and Komen Foundation?" the statement asks. "Why are these organizations, so eager to fund raise for a cure, so opposed to preventing this disease by addressing the bra-cancer link? Could it be because lingerie companies donate to their charities? Could it be that preventing this disease by challenging the cultural norm of bra wearing is too taboo for these detection and treatment focused organizations?"
Singer and Grismaijer now encourage women to respond to fundraising pleas from these organizations by sending back their bras instead: "This will give them the message, and help you prevent breast cancer at the same time."
"Culturogenic disease"
Singer and Grismaijer believe that most diseases are caused by our own behaviors, derived from an unhealthy culture. Therefore, they recommend that people engage in lifestyle experiments called "Self Studies" to determine which lifestyle choices are making them unhealthy. They claim to have uncovered lifestyle-related causes for diseases including Alzheimer's, diabetes, glaucoma, migraines, obesity, stroke, sleep apnea and thyroid disease.
"Clearly, we must all accept the responsibility to care for our own health if we wish to avoid culturogenic diseases," they wrote. "We must discard damaging cultural attitudes and behaviors. We must learn lifestyles that enhance our health and allow our bodies to operate as Nature intended."
