Join thousands who have already signed the petition for heavy metals limits in rice protein

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

(NaturalNews) Do you want clean protein products? Right now, many rice protein products sold across the USA and Canada contain significant concentrations of lead, cadmium and tungsten, all heavy metals. That's why we ask you to join the thousands of other Natural News readers and holistic food advocates who have already signed the online petition to limit heavy metals in rice protein products.

Our goal is to reach 25,000 signatures before Friday, March 7, 2014. (As of this writing, we were at 3,000 signatures so far...) We need your help to accomplish this important goal.

On or before March 7, 2014, we will deliver the petition "signatures" (just your name, country and zip code) to all the top protein manufacturers across North America who use rice protein in their products. Once that takes place, we'll let you know which companies agree to meet the heavy metals limits and which companies refuse.

The voluntary limits, to be achieved by July 1, 2015, are:

Lead limit: 250 ppb
Tungsten limit: 50 ppb
Cadmium limit: 1,000 ppb
Mercury limit: 50 ppb

Top protein manufacturers have already responded to customer concerns

Already, the top players in the vegan protein industry have agreed to these limits: Garden of Life, SunWarrior, Boku Superfood, Living Fuel and others have said "Yes!" to these limits. Some products in the marketplace already beat these limits, as our lab tests show.

Some smaller companies, on the other hand, remain in a state of total denial about why heavy metals matter. Instead of trying to clean up their products, they are attempting to manipulate their customers into eating more lead, cadmium, mercury and arsenic, even claiming it's good for you!

Fortunately, nearly all natural product consumers and Natural News readers are 100% in support of lower heavy metals limits. After all, we all agree that it's smart to limit our dietary exposure to toxic substances such as GMOs, pesticides, herbicides, hormone disruptors, sodium fluoride, artificial sweeteners and chemical preservatives like sodium nitrite. It's only natural that all of us also want to limit our exposure to toxic heavy metals like lead, cadmium, arsenic, mercury and even tungsten.

The Food Babe has also come out in support of this petition, saying, "The governmental agencies that are supposed to protect us are asleep at the wheel, so we need to rise up collectively to ensure the safety of our food. Making our voices heard through petitions really works."

Our petition, by the way, was actually inspired by the Food Babe's successes with companies like Subway, which recently agreed to remove the yoga mat chemical from their breads. Thanks, Vani! These are yet more examples of the power of grassroots activism to achieve huge successes for the public good across the corporate food industry.
