Harsh reality sets in for young, uninsured Obamacare supporters who now realize there's no free lunch

by Ethan A. Huff, staff writer

(NaturalNews) When the "Hope and Change" parade came tearing across America with empty promises of affordable healthcare for all, millions of unwitting young people, many without health insurance, quickly jumped on the bandwagon. But now, many of these same individuals, including 28-year-old Katy Irwin, a freelance graphic designer, are experiencing sticker shock due to the astronomical costs associated with the illegal individual mandate.

During a recent interview with CNBC, Irwin, who admittedly voted for Obama twice, expressed her frustration at the figures she pulled up when calculating her expected costs on the healthcare exchange. Compared to what she currently pays out of pocket for occasional visits to the doctor, Irwin's Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium could be up to 2600 percent higher, depending on the year.

Currently, Irwin sees her doctor as little as once per year, which costs her $109 per visit. If she happens to be more sickly during a particular year, she may go twice or even three times to the doctor. At most, she says she spends about $650 annually on total medical expenses and tries to eat healthy and exercise in order to stay healthy.

But with Obamacare, Irwin's whole life is going to change for the worse.

"Under Obamacare, I was going to be paying anywhere between $2,400 to $2,800" annually, Irwin told CNBC. "I don't know what co-pays are going to be under this healthcare [plan]. Right now, I tune up shop for $109 per visit. So if I go to the doctor once in a year, I'm only paying $109. At most, if I'm having a sick year, it's $650."

Irwin says Obamacare will mean no more gym membership or healthy food

When asked how she plans to deal with these enormous new costs, Irwin lamented that she may have to cut out many of the things that are currently keeping her healthy, including her gym membership and healthy food. Based on her response, Irwin is apparently unaware of the fact that she can refuse to pay the "tax" associated with Obamacare non-compliance, seeing as how the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) does not actually have the legal fortitude to collect this so-called tax.

"I guess I'm going to have to cut back expenses," added Irwin. "My budget is already maxed out as tight as it can be right now, and I don't spend money on anything else. I don't really have much disposable income as it is, so I guess... I have to cut my gym membership, my healthy eating, the very things that keep me out of the hospital to begin with."

Like millions of others, Irwin was deceived by the Liar-in-Chief about how Obamacare would affect her. Whether the most hard-lined Obama supporters want to admit it or not, everything we were told about Obamacare has turned out to be false, which is why there is now widespread, bipartisan support for a full repeal of this health insurance nightmare.

"Being mandated to pay... I guess at least I was hoping for better coverage than what I'm getting on my own right now," added Irwin. "But it looks like I will be paying for a service that I may never reap the benefits of in a year, because I'm young and healthy. And if I actually do, I'm going to be paying co-pays on top of that."
