Raw foods and juicing completely stopped young child's asthma

by Antonia

(NaturalNews) At only three years old, Desiree was plagued by constant wheezing which doctors diagnosed as asthma. In addition to using a rescue inhaler, she was eventually put on a daily dose of steroids and medications. Still, she was hospitalized on a regular basis. Her mother recalls how nearly every asthma-triggering scenario, from proximity to cats to developing a few hiccups, would land Desiree in the hospital for up to five days.

Going from bad to worse with asthma medications

Her mother says, "After a few years on medications, she began having seizures and passing out." While experts acknowledge that medical treatments are a short term solution designed to temporarily keep asthma attacks at bay, the drugs were still administered. Then, every parent's worst fear came true the day Desiree suddenly went limp, and her mother was unable to find a pulse. "That moment," her mother says, "showed me that medications weren't helping, but making her worse."

Raw foods healed daughter's asthma, restored body's nutrients to optimal levels

Fortunately, Desiree's family was able to find comfort through a lung specialist willing to listen to their story and, more importantly, who was open-minded about introducing their daughter to a raw food diet.

Desiree went 100% raw and began juicing. Her mother says, "[F]rom day one, she has not had another asthma attack. She has not had another seizure.... She's had no asthma-related problems since then." Her mother also explains that, when Desiree had a non-asthma-related hospital visit, everything from her mineral levels to red/white blood counts were within proper range. "She's not deficient in anything."

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 1 in 11 children in the United States has asthma, costing families well over $1,000 annually and resulting in about 10.5 million missed school days. Raw foods address the root of the problem in people with asthma, with several fruits and vegetables rich in the antioxidants (vitamins A, C and E) associated with helping to open narrow airways and lessen bronchial problems.
