Corrupt CPS takes baby from couple after they seek second medical opinion

(NaturalNews) For generations doctors have implored their patients to "get a second opinion" to ensure that a diagnosis for a medical condition is accurate. Child Protective Custody bureaucrats in Sacramento, Calif., have either never heard of that - which would be extremely difficult to believe if true - or they simply don't care because they are from the government and, well, they know better.
According to the HealthyHomeEconomist website, a Sacramento couple had their five-month-old child taken from them by local CPS officials (who had police forcibly remove the child from the home) - all because they apparently were trying to get a second opinion for a diagnosis involving flu-like symptoms.
The couple, Alex and Anna Nikolayev took their son, Sammy, out of Sutter Memorial Hospital to get a second opinion from another physician at Kaiser Permanente, a rival hospital. Per the website:
Anna and Alex were concerned about the quality of care baby Sammy was receiving at Sutter where he was admitted [in mid-April]. At one point, Anna questioned the antibiotics Sammy was being given and was alarmed that the nurse administering the treatment didn't know why the child was receiving them. Anna claims that a doctor later said that Sammy should not have been receiving the medication.
'I do not have concern for the safety of the child'
The HHE news site said when doctors for little Sammy began discussing heart surgery possibilities, Alex and Anna decided to leave for a second opinion - but did so without a proper discharge from Sutter, a paperwork violation.
"If we got the one mistake after another, I don't want to have my baby have surgery in the hospital where I don't feel safe," Anna Nikolayev said. "We went from one hospital to another. We just wanted to be safe, that he is in good hands."
After arriving at Kaiser with their child, the couple was confronted by police officers, who were requested to go there by medical personnel at Sutter. Officers told the parents that medical staff at Sutter told them Sammy was in such bad shape that "they thought that this baby is dying on our arms," Anna Nikolayev said.
Once police had seen that the baby was in good condition and after examining medical records which said he it was clinically safe to take him home, they left Kaiser.
An attending physician at Kaiser said at the time: "I do not have concern for the safety of the child at home with his parents," according to Healthy Home Economist.
'I'm going to grab your baby'
Nevertheless, police showed up at the Nikolayev home the following day. Alex Nikolayev allegedly met the officers as they arrived but was "slammed against the wall and pushed to the ground," the website reported. Officers then allegedly took his keys from him and entered the home to remove Sammy (here is a video of police entering the home, reportedly taken by Anna Nikolayev).
In the video police can be heard saying, "I'm going to grab your baby, and don't resist, and don't fight me, okay?"
It seems like parents have no rights
Local TV news station News10 interviewed police about the incident but were referred to CPS officials, who then said little about the case except that the child was removed from the home for severe neglect.
"We conduct a risk assessment of the child's safety and rely heavily on the direction of health care providers," CPS spokeswoman Laura McCasland said.
Bureaucrats know best, you see.
In the days following his removal, Sammy remained in "protective custody" at Sutter Memorial. Hospital officials there would not comment on the case, according to reports.
Needless to say, the Nikolayev's are as bewildered as they are heartbroken. "It seems like parents have no right whatsoever," said Anna Nikolayev.
The dismissive, all-knowing arrogance of state and federal agencies is growing, but why wouldn't it? They have been empowered by legislators who have long since delegated their legislative, law-making authority to tenured bureaucrats who are both untouchable and unaccountable and who don't have to stand for election every two to six years.
The case of the Nikolayev's is yet one more perfect example.
UPDATE: A local judge ruled April 30 that CPS return little Sammy to his parents, though the Nikolayev's said their battle with the out-of-control agency is not over.
