Everything you submit to the IRS may be illegally leaked to political enemies

by J. D. Heyes

(NaturalNews) In the wake of scandalous revelations that the Internal Revenue Service has admitted to targeting certain Tea Party, patriot and conservative groups for special scrutiny or in delaying their applications for tax-exempt status, it is becoming crystal clear that the Obama Administration has been using the nation's tax agency to target political enemies.

That means, of course, that every bit of information you provide to the IRS could eventually wind up in the wrong hands - especially if you dare to challenge the imperial Obama presidency.

Even as a candidate for the office of the president.

Targeting began as early as 2010

Writing for The Daily Caller, Matt K. Lewis said this May 13:

A little over a year ago, I reported that, "It is likely that someone at the Internal Revenue Service illegally leaked confidential donor information showing a contribution from Mitt Romney's political action committee to the National Organization for Marriage, says the group."

Now - on the heels of news the IRS's apology for having targeted conservative groups - NOM is renewing their demand that the Internal Revenue Service reveal the identity of the people responsible.

"There is little question that one or more employees at the IRS stole our confidential tax return and leaked it to our political enemies, in violation of federal law," said Brian Brow, NOM's president, in a statement. "The only questions are who did it, and whether there was any knowledge or coordination between people in the White House, the Obama reelection campaign and the Human Rights Campaign. We and the American people deserve answers."

What is more damning, however, is the breadth of this scandal. Ed Morrissey of HotAir.com reports "that the IRS targeting of conservative groups didn't start in 2012 and wasn't limited to a few rogue low-level agents," adding that "senior officials became aware of the practice at least as early as June 2011, including the top lawyer for the IRS."

Since that posting, The Wall Street Journal and Reuters, among other news outlets - many angered by the Obama Administration's serial scandals and serial lies - have both reported that an internal inspector general report found that the practice of targeting conservative groups actually began in 2010, during the midterm election cycle. Per the Journal:

But questions continued to swirl about the failure of IRS officials to disclose the problems until the inspector general's report was about to become public.

The timeline contained in the draft report indicates that IRS scrutiny of tea-party and other conservative groups began as early as 2010 and came to the attention of Ms. [Lois] Lerner, the head of the tax-exempt-organizations division, at least by the following year.

The report's timeline indicates that the criteria were changed to be more neutral in July 2011 after Ms. Lerner "raised concerns." The criteria for heightened scrutiny continued to evolve over the next year or so, even as complaints from tea-party groups - and questions from GOP lawmakers - mounted over IRS inquiries to various groups about their activities.

'The IRS had to provide the information'

By last year, lawmakers were becoming acutely aware, as had Romney's campaign and a number of targeted groups, that something was up in the way the IRS was leveling undue scrutiny at them, including holding up their tax-exempt applications for months.

"The head of one national advocacy group has released documents which show that his group's confidential IRS information found its way into the hands of a staunch critic on the Left who also happens to be a co-chairman of President Obama's re-election committee. The only way this information could have been made public is if someone leaked it from inside the IRS," Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said in a 2012 speech (http://www.washingtonpost.com).

Keep in mind that this corruption - and that's what it is, blatant raw corruption - has the potential to get much, much worse when you consider the fact that the IRS is the lead agency in the enforcement of Obamacare.

Every American will be required to provide the most intimate medical details that now could very well be used against them at some point in the future by a political enemy or a federal agency seeking to deny you rights or benefits you are due.

Even Democrats, the president's party, are calling for heads to roll over this outrage. They most certainly need to; that is the only way to ensure the integrity of our system.
