Women to be screened for "signs of abuse" by primary care docs, referred for psychiatric evaluation, home visits, government mentor program

by Mike Bundrant

(NaturalNews) The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) now strongly recommends that women "who show no clear indicators of physical or sexual abuse" should be screened for intimate partner violence (IPV) while visiting their doctor.

The recommendation was published in the journal Annals of Internal Medicine. IPV screenings attempt to uncover sexual abuse, physical violence, psychological abuse, stalking, and reproductive coercion. If the patients show signs of abuse, they should be referred for intervention services, which may include home visits, counseling, information cards, mentor programs, and community service referrals.

Dr. David Grossman, a Seattle pediatrician and task force member, said, "The bottom line is that more research is needed on how primary-care clinicians can effectively screen and protect all populations, including older and vulnerable adults, middle-aged women, men and children from abuse and violence."

Seriously? Let's see if this adds up

If you want to end domestic violence, then:

1. Choose people to intervene who: have no human relations training, possess few people skills, work in an emotionally void environment by design, spend very little time with patients and are among the busiest people on Earth. Let them handle this complex problem!

2. Require these highly unqualified people to pinpoint wildly vague concepts such as psychological abuse, stalking, and reproductive coercion.

3. With a world of room for interpretation and error, you then pass patients on to psychiatrists, "mentors" and government representatives or public health officials to enter the patient's home to see what all the trouble is.

Then, of course, the patient is on record as having problems that need government intervention. Your assigned mentor is waiting...

The ultimate irony

The ultimate irony is that many of these unfortunate folks will be treated by the field of psychiatry, which is on record as the most abusive profession in the history of mankind!

Psychiatry is the domain of the ice pick lobotomy, the brain frying chemical lobotomy, and circuitry burning psycho-surgeries that suggest killing the brain is the answer to your mental troubles - and don't forget the prestigious, memory erasing electro-convulsive "therapy." I'd much prefer to be leached by medieval physicians than treated by someone with a scalpel and an appetite for grey matter.

Is there a solution to the violence?

I do not know if domestic violence will come to an end before the end of the human race. It is a complex issue. Sociopathic men with an addiction to control dominate vulnerable women who have an unconscious addiction to rejection. Ask anyone who has worked in the trenches, as I have, and you will soon understand that no one has a wholesale solution.

The issue seems comparable to the Middle East peace process. Your primary care doc doesn't have a solution, either. Neither does the federal government.

But shouldn't the government keep trying?

No. Please stop the nonsensical attempts to creep into our lives. People with domestic violence issues need real help from caring friends, family members, churches and non-intrusive professionals. To suggest that primary care docs need to "screen and protect all populations" by government mandate is offensive.
