The Longest Walk 3 - Reversing Diabetes 2011 event to converge in DC on July 8, sponsorships needed

by Jonathan Benson, staff writer

(NaturalNews) The Longest Walk 3 - Reversing Diabetes 2011 (LW3), a 5,000-plus mile walk across the US designed to raise awareness about how diabetes can be reversed through diet and lifestyle, began in both San Diego, Calif., and Portland, Ore., on February 14, and will soon conclude in Washington, DC, on July 8. And event organizers are currently looking for sponsorships to help with festivities that will conclude the walk, including a welcome reception, a keynote event to feature participant testimonies, and various other events.

Unlike most other conventional awareness programs, LW3 actually raises awareness about practical solutions to diabetes, which include dietary and lifestyle changes, rather than just awareness that a disease exists and pleas to continue donating money for "the cause." LW3's organizers recognize that diabetes does not have to be a permanent condition, and that nutrition and exercise play a crucial role in determining whether or not a person remains afflicted with it. In fact, LW3's goal is to actually reverse diabetes and raise consciousness among Americans by teaching them how to eat and live right.

Two different walking groups are participating in this year's LW3, one group that took a northern route out of Portland, and another group that took a southern route out of San Diego. All along the way, these walkers are holding community talks where they teach people how to reverse both diabetes and heart disease. They are also advocating for healthier diets and increased exercise to help bring real health and wellness to people everywhere.

Once everyone arrives in Washington DC on July 8, event organizers are hoping to have a welcome reception, a keynote talk and testimony summit, a wrap-up and greeting for the walkers, a diabetic-friendly luncheon, and various other events for the diabetes benefit powwow, and a host hotel for the summit and powwow. NaturalNews is a strong supporter of the work of LW3 because it embodies many of the same values that we share -- mainly that disease can be reversed and cured through nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle. If you know of any national groups or "tribes" that might be willing to support the Reversing Diabetes DC events at the conclusion of the walk, be sure to have them contact:
