Cedar Oil - Wood, leaves and nuts provide cornucopia of benefits

by Alex Malinsky aka RawGuru

(NaturalNews) Cedar Oil, depending upon whether it is derived from the wood chips and sawdust, from the leaves, or from the nuts, has a variety of very different uses. Cedarwood Oil is distilled from Juniper and Cypress Trees, not from the true Cedrus species; it is mainly used in aromatherapy and as an insect repellent. Cedar Nut Oil provides nutrition through a plethora of vitamins and minerals, poly and monounsaturated fats, and Oleic/Linoleic acids.

Cedar Oil from Wood Chips and Sawdust

Cedar Oil distilled from wood does not provide any nutritional value via consumption; rather, it is used in aromatherapy as one of the essential oils for calming the mind and body by soothing away nervous tension. The woodsy aroma breathes harmony into mind and body, helping consumers feel balanced, stable and refreshed.

Other uses include application as a natural insect repellent, and within medical fields as an expectorant and a topical treatment for acne. In India, Cedar Oil has been shown to have insecticidal and antifungal qualities; the U.S. acknowledges these properties and, in addition, found uses in a range of fragrance applications such as soap perfumes, household sprays, floor polishes and insecticides.

Cedar Oil from Leaves

Cedar Leaf Oil is steam distilled from the leaves and branch ends of the White Cedar, also known as Thuja Occidentalis or the Red Cedar, a.k.a. Thuja Plicata. This type of oil contains a large percentage of a substance called thujone, i.e. the hallucinogenic component of absinthe, which is a substance that can trigger miscarriage.

Today, Cedar Leaf Oil is used in cold medicines because it has the ability to clear nasal passages, sinus cavities and lungs of congestion. Cedar Leaf Oil is the main ingredient in Thuja Oil, a substance that can be used to treat genital warts and respiratory infections.

Cedar Nut Oil

Cedar Nut Oil, synonymous with Pine Nut Oil, provides nutrition through a plethora of vitamins and minerals, poly and monounsaturated fats, and Oleic/Linoleic acids. In the United States, Cedar Nut Oil works in cell proliferation, hypertension and allergic reaction prevention, and blood lipid and blood sugar level control.

Vitamins A, B, D, E and F can be found in Cedar Nut Oil. Vitamin F is sometimes used to refer to the combination of Linoleic and Alpha Linoleic acids, i.e. essential fatty acids which work to reduce cholesterol and stop the formation of plaque on artery walls. Vitamin A is good for skin rejuvenation and growth of cells; Vitamin B works to repair the nervous system; Vitamin D helps with bone health; and Vitamin E is an antioxidant which promotes overall health.

Cedar Nut Oil provides all the protein of 70% of the essential amino acids necessary for the human body to build muscle, boost metabolism and keep all organ systems running synergistically for optimal health from the inside out.

Trace elements, such as phosphorus, copper, magnesium, zinc, manganese, and cobalt are also found in Cedar Nut Oil; no other food product can compare with Cedar Nut Oil in the quantity of magnesium, which opens up blood vessels and decreases the excitability of the central nervous system.

Cedar Oil has such a wide variety of uses - from the oil extracted from the wood for household products, to the oils distilled from the leaves for medicinal purposes, to the nut oils pressed for the incredible nutrition it provides for human beings.
