Help defeat GMOs by supporting the Institute for Responsible Technology

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

(NaturalNews) As you may already be aware, Monsanto and other powerful corporations are well along in their plans to dominate the world food supply through genetic engineering. Genetically engineered food ingredients like corn and soy, as well as sugar from GMO sugar beets, are now found in thousands of grocery food items.

While all this is going on, the FDA is making every effort to prevent the public from knowing the truth about GMOs in their foods. They've claimed that requiring GE foods to be accurately labeled would be "confusing" to consumers. The upshot is that they have no intention to require mandatory GMO labeling of food products, and in fact the FDA seems committed to making sure consumers are left in the dark (as usual).

As the editor of NaturalNews, I've been fighting hard to raise public awareness about the dangers of GMOs through articles, videos and music. But there's another person who has been doing even more -- for about 15 years -- to protect you from the dangers of genetically modified foods.

His name is Jeffrey Smith, and he's the executive director of the non-profit Institute for Responsible Technology (IRT).

Today, Jeffrey works long hours, seven days a week to appear on radio and TV shows, to produce videos and documentaries and to fight for real change that would end the era of genetically engineered foods. He does this on a shoestring budget.

But even that small budget barely makes ends meet. IRT urgently needs additional financial support from people like you and me in order to continue its important work that ultimately protects us all from GMOs.

That's why I'm writing you today to ask for your financial support of IRT. I have personally pledged up to $10,000 to IRT in matching donations from NaturalNews.com, so for every dollar you donate, I'll match it with a dollar from us (up to 10K). Together, we can help raise $20,000 for the IRT.

To date, we've raised about $3500, so thank you to those who have already donated. Even small contributions really mean a lot to IRT, and every dollar you contribute goes to one of the most important causes that exists today -- the protection of our food supply from greed-driven corporations who want to monopolize the world seed supply.

We are literally fighting for our long-term survival here. If we hope to maintain biodiversity among the seed supply, protect farmers and prevent consumers from being harmed by the negative side effects of GMOs, we need to defeat the GMO agenda right now. To do it, IRT is implementing a plan to create a tipping point of consumer rejection of GMOs, to force them out of the market.

Since GM ingredients offer no consumer benefit, as little as 5% of shoppers avoiding them could be sufficient to turn the tide. Concerned citizens already kicked GMOs out of European brands, and informed consumers can do it here in America as well. IRT educates people about the health dangers, and provides them with Non-GMO Shopping Guides.

IRT plans to release more documentaries, interviews and articles, and to establish local and national Non-GMO Working Groups to educate the public, parents, schools, healthcare professionals, and others to stop buying high-risk foods that use GMO ingredients. That effort takes funding, and you can probably already imagine such funding isn't being offered by many corporations.

If we are to be successful in halting the scourge of GMOs, it's really up to you and me. We must be the support that keeps IRT going. Together, we can win this fight for our food freedom and help protect future generations from the travesty of GMO seeds and crops.

Please join me in contributing to IRT today with your tax-deductible contribution.

And remember, every dollar you contribute is matched by NaturalNews, up to a total of $10,000. Your contributions are fully tax-deductible, so please donate what you can to this worthy cause.

Thank you for joining me in this effort to save our crops -- and ourselves -- from the GMO agenda.
