Dr. John Olsen from UCLA led the research team which published their findings in the online journal "Human Reproduction". In related animal studies the perflourinated chemicals were found to affect fertility, the organs, and hinder development in fetuses.

6 Tips to Avoid Perflourinated Chemicals When Trying To Get Pregnant

1. Buy products that are packaged in natural or green packaging. Buying products that are natural or green and come in recycled packaging, minimal packaging, or green packaging in most cases contain fewer chemicals and give you a better chance of avoiding these chemicals.

2. Avoid Teflon cookware as it is a common product that contains perflourinated chemicals and can more easily transfer the chemical into your bloodstream if it enters the food that you are cooking using this type of cookware.

3. Buy only natural and green chemical cleaning products as common floor waxes, carpet cleaners, Scotchgard, and other cleaners are known to contain perflourinated chemicals. You can always use vinegar and baking soda.

4. Try to avoid storing food in plastic. Use an alternative method such as glass or more natural containers known to contain fewer chemicals.

5. Stop buying bottled water and use aluminum or stainless steel bottles made for reuse and low on chemicals. A reusable water bottle is a simple and cheap way to insure you control the chemicals entering your body.

6. Buy milk in a glass bottle. Many women trying to conceive drink more milk than normal which can be a good thing. Make sure it is a good thing by deciding on the container your milk comes from.
