South Bend residents fight identity theft with the Great Shred Event

Stopping identity theft took center stage Saturday morning at WNDU, as we gave you a chance to shred personal documents.
Even with the rain, many turned out for the Great Shred Event.
It was a way to help folks avoid becoming victims of identity theft.
A company called Shred-It brought in a large shredder to slice and dice papers, some dating back to the 1940's.
"I brought five bags of papers from 1947, (which included) income tax papers, all kinds of souvenir papers," said Sandra Lynch, who was just one the many who came out to shred potential identity theft documents.
"It's time to get rid of all this stuff in my garage."
At one point Saturday morning, the line of cars stretched down Dorr Road onto State Road 933.
