A Livingston County woman has pleaded guilty in federal court to identity theft in connection with the scamming of an 86-year-old woman.
Lisa Myric Lucas, 31, of Caledonia also pleaded guilty to mail fraud.
She is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 7.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kathleen Mehltretter announced the plea on Monday.
The case was heard before U.S. District Judge Michael Telesca.
The mail fraud charge carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a $250,000 fine; the identity theft charge has a maximum penalty of two years in prison.
Federal prosecutors said Lucas' scam occurred from August to December last year while she was working at K&H Precision in Honeoye Falls.
Lucas fraudulently ordered a company credit card for an 86-year-old woman who didn't work for K&H Precision.
Lucas then had the woman use the credit card to withdraw large amounts of money.
In a related scheme, Lucas ordered credit cards using her supervisor's name and Social Security number while the supervisor was on vacation.
The credit cards were sent by mail to K&H Precision.
Lucas then took the credit cards, set up an Internet account using the 86-year-old woman's name, and used the fraudulently obtained cards to make Internet purchases.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service investigated the case.
