Guidant stands by potentially flawed defibrillator

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

Last week Guidant Corp. announced it would stand by its decision to continue selling its popular implantable heart defibrillator, the Ventak Prizm 2 DR, even after a flaw forced the company to redesign its product. Guidant says data shows its product is reliable and responsible for saving many lives. The company reported two electrical failures of the products in early 2002, but neither case injured the device's recipient. One recipient has brought a lawsuit against Guidant on behalf of the Ventak Prizm's 24,000 recipients for not disclosing the possible failure.
