Children who live near major roads have higher risk of developing asthma

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

According to a study, children who live within 75 meters of a major road have almost a 50 percent better chance of developing asthma than children who live more than 300 meters away. The study included more than 5,000 5- and 6-year-old children living in Southern California. California has already passed a law which prohibits building a school within 500 meters of a freeway or major highway. Lead author Rob McConnell, M.D., said if a definitive link was established between asthma and heavy traffic, it will likely be expensive to design cities that separate transportation avenues from where children live, go to school and "engage in outdoor exercise."
