Research finds North American women deficient in vitamin D

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

New research by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) suggests women in North America are deficient in vitamin D, probably due to physicians overlooking vitamin-D deficiency in patients, and thereby overlooking vitamin D as a treatment for osteoporosis. The study of 1,554 postmenopausal women showed that 52 percent had "suboptimal" vitamin D concentrations, and underscored a need for patient and doctor education on the benefits of vitamin D in the treatment of postmenopausal women with osteoporosis. Vitamin D is primarily found in oily fish, cod liver oil, some vegetables and fortified milk, cereals and breads.
