Children exposed to violence are at increased risk for illness, study finds

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

A new study has found that children who see violence either at home or in their neighborhood often suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and suffer from more maladies than children who have not been exposed to such violence. The research was performed on 160 preschool children from low-income families and the study found that 78 percent of the children were exposed to some form of violence. And those children who were exposed to violence were found to have symptoms of PTSD.

The children who showed signs of PTSD were also found to have an increased risk for asthma, gastrointestinal problems and headaches. Thus, the stress of violence seems to take a severe toll on young children.
