Foot amputations due to diabetes are largely preventable

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

Diabetic foot wounds are the leading cause of nontraumatic foot amputations in the U.S., with 80,000 amputations performed annually on diabetic patients. Of this number, statistics show that approximately 72,000 are preventable. Many diabetics have a nerve disorder called neuropathy, that can lead to the loss of sensation in the feet, causing diabetics to wear ill-fitting shoes and not notice when sores or infections develop.
